Abei Patience: A Compassionate Voice Seeking to Strengthen Student Welfare in NAGS

In every generation, there are individuals who step forward not for personal recognition, but out of a genuine desire to serve and make a difference. Among such emerging leaders is Abei Patience, a proud daughter of Iba Benkoro Idumu in Tebijor Community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, and a student of Nursing Science at Wesley University.

With a strong passion for student welfare, leadership, and community development, Abei Patience is seeking the mandate of Gbaramatu students as she contests for the position of Welfare Director of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS).

For Patience, leadership is more than holding an office; it is about serving people, listening to their concerns, and working tirelessly to improve their lives. This belief has shaped her journey as a student and inspired her decision to seek a position where she can contribute meaningfully to the welfare of fellow Gbaramatu students.

If elected Welfare Director, she plans to introduce a structured welfare support system that will provide assistance to students facing academic, personal, or emergency-related challenges. She also hopes to organize health awareness campaigns and mental wellness programs, drawing from her background as a Nursing Science student and her understanding of the importance of physical and emotional well-being.

Beyond welfare support, Abei is passionate about creating stronger communication channels between students and the association. She proposes the establishment of a feedback platform where students can freely express their concerns, make suggestions, and receive timely responses. In her view, effective communication is one of the foundations of a vibrant and united student body.

Recognizing the importance of academic excellence, she also intends to promote study groups, educational seminars, and academic support initiatives that will encourage students to excel in their studies while maintaining active participation in association affairs.

These experiences, she says, have prepared her to effectively serve the interests of Gbaramatu students if entrusted with the office of Welfare Director.

She believes NAGS has a vital role to play in educating young people about their traditions, history, language, and values. Through cultural programs and awareness initiatives, she hopes to strengthen the connection between students and their roots.
