A 100-level Mass Communication student at Philomath University, Abuja. Eguare Tamaraemi Isabel has declared her intention to contest for the position of Treasurer of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS), promising transparency and accountability in the management of the association's finances.

Isabel, who hails from Kokodiagbene Community and the Agugu Idumu family of Gbaramatu Kingdom, said her decision to seek office was driven by her desire to contribute to the growth of the association through responsible financial management.

"I am contesting for the position of Treasurer of NAGS. I was motivated by my desire to ensure that the association's finances are managed responsibly, transparently, and effectively for the benefit of all Gbaramatu students," she said.

The aspirant identified inadequate transparency in financial matters, low student participation, poor communication among campuses, and insufficient funding for student programmes as some of the challenges facing the association.

Speaking on her plans if elected, Isabel said she would prioritize proper record-keeping and regular financial reporting.

"I intend to maintain accurate and accessible financial records, present regular financial reports to members, introduce a proper budgeting system, encourage prudent spending, and explore legitimate fundraising opportunities to support NAGS activities," she stated.

She also pledged to strengthen accountability through improved financial management practices, including the introduction of quarterly financial reports and digital record-keeping systems.

On efforts to unite students across campuses, Isabel said inclusiveness and communication would be central to her administration.

"I will promote inclusiveness, encourage regular communication among campus chapters, and support programmes that bring students together to pursue common goals and celebrate our shared identity," she said.

The Treasurer aspirant further emphasized the role of NAGS in preserving the cultural heritage of the Gbaramatu Kingdom.

"NAGS should educate younger generations about our traditions, organize cultural events, promote our language and values, and ensure that our heritage remains a source of pride and identity," she added.

Urging members to make informed choices during the election, Isabel called on students to prioritize competence and integrity when casting their votes.

"Vote for me because I will protect our resources with honesty, serve with transparency, and work diligently for the progress of every Gbaramatu student," she said.

The forthcoming NAGS election is expected to produce a new set of executives who will oversee the affairs of the association and advance the interests of Gbaramatu students across various higher institutions.
