Bossman Askwell Azapere, from IVA Idumu in Kunukunuma Federated Community, Gbaramatu Kingdom, has declared his candidacy for the position of Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS).

Azapere, an HND I student of Business Administration and Management at Eastern Polytechnic, Port Harcourt, said his decision to contest is driven by a desire to strengthen communication within the association and ensure that the voices of Gbaramatu students are adequately represented.

The P.R.O aspirant identified ineffective communication, low student engagement, limited awareness of NAGS activities, and the need for stronger unity among students across different campuses as some of the major challenges facing the association.

To address these challenges, he pledged to improve communication across all NAGS chapters, strengthen the association’s online presence, provide regular updates on activities, promote student achievements, and create platforms that encourage active participation among members.

Azapere said he possesses the communication skills, creativity, integrity, and commitment required to effectively project the image of the association and keep students informed.

He also promised to enhance publicity for NAGS programmes, utilize digital platforms more effectively, encourage student feedback, and ensure that activities of the association remain relevant and beneficial to members.

On transparency and accountability, Azapere said he would provide timely and accurate information about NAGS activities and maintain open communication with students, ensuring that reports and updates are readily accessible.

The aspirant emphasized the role of NAGS in promoting Gbaramatu culture and heritage, stating that the association should educate students about their roots and organize programmes that preserve and celebrate the identity of the Gbaramatu people.

Speaking on his experience, Azapere said he has participated in several student and community initiatives and has served in leadership and organizational capacities that equipped him with skills in communication, teamwork, planning, public engagement, and accountability. He added that his experience as a business manager further strengthened his leadership and coordination abilities.

He assured students that he would balance the demands of office with his academic responsibilities through effective time management, discipline, planning, and teamwork.

Azapere urged students to support candidates based on competence, integrity, and vision, assuring them that he would provide transparent representation and dedicated service if elected.

“I am committed to being a responsible, accessible, and transparent representative who will always prioritize the interests of Gbaramatu students and the growth of NAGS,” he said.
