NAGS 7th Mega Elective Convention: Preserving the Legacy of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom Through Culture, Identity and Leadership

As the official historical archive committed to documenting and preserving the rich heritage of the Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, Gbaramatu Kingdom History recognizes the forthcoming 7th Mega Elective Convention of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) as a significant chapter in the continuing story of the kingdom and its people.

Scheduled to take place from July 24th to 26th, 2026, at Kokodiagbene Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, the convention is built around the theme, "Culture and Identity: Preserving the Heritage, Values and Legacy of Our People." The gathering reflects a collective commitment by the younger generation to uphold the customs, traditions and historical foundations that have defined the Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom for centuries.

At a time when globalization continues to influence indigenous cultures across the world, the NAGS convention stands as a deliberate effort to ensure that the history, values and identity of the Gbaramatu people remain alive and relevant for future generations. It is a platform where students, traditional institutions, government leaders, youth organizations and community stakeholders unite to celebrate the kingdom's heritage while charting a path forward.

The convention will be held under the royal blessings of His Royal Majesty, Oboro-Gbaraun II, Aketekpe, Agadagba, Pere of Ancient Gbaramatu Kingdom, who will serve as the Royal Father of the Day. His presence symbolizes the enduring role of the traditional institution as the custodian of the kingdom's culture, customs and collective memory.

Among the distinguished personalities expected at the event are Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly and Principal Guest, His Excellency Kingsley Otuaro, former Deputy Governor of Delta State and Keynote Speaker, Professor Benedict O. Ebiebi, Orator, Niger Delta University ( NDU) Amassoma , and High Chief (Hon.) MacDonald Igbadiwei, President of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Delta State Chapter, who will serve as Chairman of the Occasion.

The convention will also feature the spiritual guidance of Apostle Mathias Zion Amaye, while Comrade Ark Selegha, Executive Chairman of Kokodiagbene Community, will play a leading role in hosting guests and delegates arriving from across the kingdom and beyond.

A major highlight of the gathering will be the attendance of several respected sons and daughters of Gbaramatu Kingdom and the wider Ijaw Nation as Special Guests of Honour. These include:

• High Chief Hon. Sherif Mulade, National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC).

• Rt. Hon. Ekpemupolo Idukedoumene Samuel, Leader of the Warri South Legislative Arm and Chairman of the Delta State Councilors Forum.

• Comrade Kingsley Arerobo Epebule, President of the Gbaramatu Youth Council (GYC Worldwide).

• Comrade Zikurubei Wazo Oyinukoro, Chairman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), Gbaramatu Clan.

• Hon. Shedrack Ebikeme, Immediate Past President of the Gbaramatu Youth Council.

• Hon. Christopher Wuruyai, Former President of the Gbaramatu Youth Council.

• Hon. Seiyefa Ekpemupolo, Former President of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS).

• Hon. Ebi Adams Tonjo, Former Vice President of NAGS.

• Mrs. Glory Ebi Otutuegha, President of Gbaramatu Female Graduates.

Their presence reflects the convention's importance as a meeting point for experienced leaders, youth advocates, policymakers and community builders who have contributed immensely to the development of Gbaramatu Kingdom over the years.

The event is being coordinated by the Convention Planning Committee under the leadership of Comrade Ubebe B. Kester Denyefa, whose dedication and commitment have been instrumental in mobilizing stakeholders for the convention. He is working alongside Comrade Douye Simon, President of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students, and Comrade Akinteye Babatunde Afeeza, President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), to ensure a successful and impactful gathering.

For Gbaramatu Kingdom History, the significance of this convention extends far beyond student elections.
