Stamped: Communities of Gbaramatu Kingdom is an Independent visual archival project whose office is located in the United Kingdom presents a stamp that represents each community in Gbaramatu Kingdom.

From the sacred traditions of the water and the drum to the industrial reality of the modern energy landscape, Gbaramatu Kingdom holds a rich, powerful history.

Stamped: Communities of Gbaramatu Kingdom is a visual archival project that translates the living identities of our people into the format of postage stamps. Ten communities. Ten symbols. Ten stories that refuse to be erased.

Why Stamps?

Though small, a postage stamp carries a nation’s identity across the world. It travels with every letter, only to be kept as a piece of history, quietly declaring that this place exists and it matters.

For our communities in Gbaramatu kingdom in Niger Delta region of Nigeria, official recognition has rarely arrived on our own terms.

This project reclaims that format, allowing the communities themselves to become the issuing authority.

Every symbol was chosen because it belongs deeply to the people, to the water, and to the living memory.
