Comrade Guade Mose Daniel, a student at Nigeria Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, has pledged to revive sporting activities within the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS) Worldwide as he contests for the position of Director of Sports.

Daniel, who hails from Okerenkoko Federated Community, Bibopere Zion, said the decline in sporting activities within the association motivated him to seek office. According to him, sports remain one of the most effective tools for promoting unity, friendship, and healthy living among students.

“Sport activities bring people together from different places and unite them. For the past few years, NAGS sporting activities have been not effective, and I want to make changes in that aspect,” he said.

The aspirant promised to organize regular sporting events that would encourage students from different communities to interact, build stronger relationships, and foster peace and unity across Gbaramatu Kingdom.

He stressed that sports should be given greater attention by the association because of its physical, social, and developmental benefits. He noted that regular exercise is widely recommended for maintaining good health and improving overall well-being.

Daniel also highlighted his leadership experience, noting that he has participated in several community activities, including sanitation exercises during the Amaseikumor Festival. He currently serves as Speaker of the Environmental Sanitation Group in Kurutie Community and is actively involved in youth mobilization activities within Bibopere Zion.

Speaking on leadership, he said the best strategy for achieving success is the application of wisdom and inclusive leadership. He added that transparency and accountability can only be achieved when leaders stand for justice and refuse to support wrongdoing.

The sports director hopeful further emphasized the need for students to embrace and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Ijaw people.

“We should never be ashamed of our culture and heritage. We should be proud of where we came from as Ijaw people and show it to the world,” he stated.

Daniel expressed confidence in his ability to balance academic responsibilities with the demands of office if elected, attributing his confidence to God's guidance and inspiration.

He described High Chief Michael Johnny as his leadership mentor, saying the respected leader's vision and sense of purpose have greatly influenced his leadership style.

A devoted supporter of Chelsea Football Club and a passionate lover of sports, Daniel maintained that he possesses the commitment and enthusiasm required to transform the sports department of NAGS.

He appealed to students to support his candidacy, assuring them that he would remain faithful to his promises and work in the best interest of the association.

I want them to trust me because I will never fail my promises. I am a man of my words. My word is my pride,” he said.
