NAGS Financial Secretary Aspirant Edith Pledges Transparency, Accountability

A 400-level Microbiology student at Niger Delta University, Elekute Tamaraedidiemi Edith, has declared her intention to contest for the position of Financial Secretary of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS), promising transparency, accountability and proper financial management if elected.
Edith, who hails from Oporoza Community, Kenebra Quarters in Gbaramatu Kingdom, said her aspiration is driven by a desire to strengthen financial accountability and contribute to the growth of the association.
Speaking during an interview, the aspirant said she possesses the experience and qualities needed to effectively serve in the office, having worked with both previous and current NAGS executives.
She identified inadequate communication, low student participation and the need for more programmes within Gbaramatu Kingdom to create awareness among students as some of the challenges requiring urgent attention in the association.
According to her, improved accountability in financial matters remains essential for the continued growth and credibility of NAGS.
Edith commended the efforts of the current Financial Secretary, noting that she had worked closely with her and witnessed her commitment to the office.
The aspirant disclosed that, if elected, she would prioritize proper record keeping, regular financial reporting and transparent documentation of all financial transactions.
She further pledged to support initiatives aimed at promoting the development of the association and enhancing student participation through effective communication, social media engagement and programmes that directly benefit students.
On preserving the cultural heritage of Gbaramatu Kingdom, Edith said NAGS should continue to promote the language, traditions and values of the people through cultural events, education and community engagement.
She also promised to encourage inclusiveness and equal representation of students across campuses in order to strengthen unity within the association.
Speaking on her leadership experience, Edith said her involvement in organizing student activities and working with different groups has equipped her with the skills of responsibility, teamwork and accountability.
She assured students that she would balance the demands of office with her academic responsibilities through effective time management and discipline.
Appealing for support ahead of the election, Edith urged students to consider competence, integrity and commitment to service when making their choice, assuring them that she would serve with dedication and accountability.
She expressed confidence that her commitment to transparency, accountability and the progress of NAGS makes her a suitable candidate for the office of Financial Secretary.
