Richard Edisemi Excel of Ogeh Idumu, Kokodiagbene Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom, has declared her intention to contest for the position of Vice President of the National Association of Gbaramatu Students (NAGS), pledging to promote unity, student welfare, and academic development across the association.

Excel, a Law student at Gregory University, Uturu, said her decision to seek the office was inspired by her passion for selfless service and her desire to support the President in building a stronger and more responsive student body.

The vice-presidential aspirant cited her leadership experience as evidence of her readiness for the role. She previously served as Secretary of the NAGS Novena University Chapter and was a member of the Electoral Committee during the association's 2017 election. She currently serves as Director of Welfare II of the Gregory University Students' Union Government and Secretary of the Dubri Timiyan Foundation.

According to her, the experiences gained from these positions have prepared her to effectively serve the interests of Gbaramatu students.

Excel identified poor communication among members, low participation in association activities, limited collaboration between campuses, and the need for more academic and leadership development opportunities as some of the key challenges facing NAGS.

To address these issues, she promised to support mentorship programmes, student welfare initiatives, leadership and career development seminars, and stronger communication channels that would connect students across various institutions.

“I will encourage regular engagement among campus representatives, promote inclusive leadership, and ensure that every student feels represented and valued regardless of their institution,” she said.

The aspirant also pledged to promote transparency and accountability by maintaining open communication with members, providing regular updates on activities and decisions, and ensuring that all actions align with the association's constitution.

On cultural preservation, Excel said NAGS should play a leading role in promoting the heritage of Gbaramatu Kingdom through cultural events, educational programmes, and activities that encourage students to take pride in their identity and traditions.

She further assured members that effective time management, discipline, and teamwork would enable her to balance the responsibilities of office with her academic pursuits.

Urging students to support her candidacy, Excel said leadership should be entrusted to individuals with integrity, competence, and a genuine commitment to service.

“Gbaramatu students should trust me because my record reflects responsibility, consistency, and a genuine commitment to service. If elected, I will serve with honesty, transparency, and dedication while working tirelessly to advance the interests of every Gbaramatu student,” she said.
